Vaping is the process of heating an e-liquid into vapour and then inhaling the vapour produced. The e-liquids used can be with or without nicotine.
Ohm (Ω) is a unit of electrical resistance. It is important to vapers because it is used in coils & pods. Each coil is rated in ohms and will have a wattage range assigned to it. It’s worth knowing this so you know which coil to buy and also what power you should run your coil on.
MTL vaping, also known as mouth-to-lung vaping, is the style of vaping where you use your vape like you would smoke a cigarette. So you take it back into your mouth, and then inhale the vapour into your lungs, before exhaling. This is the most popular style for quitting smoking, and users will usually use the 50/50 liquid. This is how people use the disposable bars too! DTL, direct-to-lung, or STL, straight-to-lung vaping is different. In this style you would inhale the vape straight back into your lungs. In general, this produces more of a vapour cloud and flavour for the user, and is popular with lower nicotine users who are chasing amazing flavour.
Here in the UK you must be at least 18 years of age to purchase a vape. Our shops are very strict on this and operate a challenge 25 policy in store. We also have an Age Gate on our website, so you can only enter if you are over 18.
Many smokers, and now ex-smokers, have found that vaping is a great way to quit smoking. In fact, a recent study in 2019 by the New England Journal of Medicine found that vaping was better than other methods of quitting smoking. There’s a few reasons why vaping is so good at this. You still have the habit of putting something to your mouth and a plume of smoke (or vape in this case) being produced. Not to mention that vaping works out much cheaper and is better for your health than smoking cigarettes!
Vaping works out much cheaper than smoking. Once you have bought your kit, which you can get a good one for not too expensive these days, all you need to buy is liquids and coils. Even if you went through a lot of liquids & coils, at 10 bottles for £10, it would still be far cheaper than £13 for every pack of cigarettes.
Vaping doesn’t come under the indoor smoking ban of 2007 so there isn’t any regulation in that sense. However, most privately owned places have their own rules on vaping, it is worth checking with the manager or landlord wherever you are to abide by their rules. It is safe to vape indoors at home for example because there is not second-hand vaping. Of course, this is entirely up to you!
You can vape as often or as little as you need. When you get a bit of a craving, just have a couple of puffs on your vape until that craving is dampened. Nic salts can help reduce the amount of puffs you have. They offer a smooth hit for higher nicotine, which means you don’t need to use it as often.
This all depends what E-Liquid you use. Some vape liquids do produce a smell, and others do not. It will be trial and error to find one you like that makes no (or very little) smell.
You should always carry your vape kit and vape liquid (up to 100ml) in your hand luggage when flying. This allows the security and customs officials to ask you about them if they have any questions regarding your vape. We recommend you don’t have any liquid in your tank because it will leak out when the air pressure changes on your flight. It is always worth checking your holiday destinations policy on vaping to ensure it is legal where you are headed! You cannot use your vape on a plane.
Disposable vapes are exactly what the name suggests. They are vape devices that once you have used them, you simply throw away, or hopefully soon, recycle. They are hugely popular because of the ease of use, in that you don’t have to fill them, charge them or change the coils in them. We stock a great range of them in store and online, including Elf Bars, Crystal Bars, Gem Bars, Lost Mary’s & Elux Legend Minis. They can be a great entry into vaping because of how easy to use they are, although most of them are very high 20mg nicotine.
There has been plenty of press about the risks of second-hand vaping but is it actually a big deal? Well, according to the science no. A 2012 study published in Inhalation Toxicology found that E-Cigarettes produce very small exposure compared to tobacco cigarettes. They also found that there was no risk to human health from E-Cigarette emissions.
A coil is a wire or mesh wrap on the inside which heats up when you press the button to fire the battery. The wire or mesh is surrounded by cotton which the e-liquid soaks into. As the button is pressed, the wire heats up and vaporises the e-liquid.
An E-Liquid is a mixture of a couple of ingredients. VG which is vegetable glycerine, is also used in the food industry as a flavour enhancer and thickener. PG stands for propylene glycol and is also used in the food industry. PG is used as a flavouring and to maintain moisture in foods. Both of the main ingredients in vape liquid are known to be very safe and not harmful to human, hence their everyday use in food! The other ingredients would include nicotine, if you have any, and the flavourings for the flavour. That’s it!
Yes! Don’t take it from us, Public Health England declared in 2015 that E-Cigarettes are around 95% less harmful than smoking. They have since said vaping is more than 95% safer than smoking. So regardless of the money you can save, it is worth switching for your health.
The UK vape industry is regulated by the MHRA under TPD regulations which were brought in a few years ago. A couple of examples of rules are: Minimum standards for quality and safety of E-Cigarettes and E-Liquids. 10ml max volume for a vape liquid with nicotine in. Restrict E-Liquids to a maximum nicotine strength of 20mg.
Essentially with every E-Cigarette there are a couple of parts. There is a battery unit which has a button to press to fire the battery. Then there is the tank which houses the coil and the vape liquid. When you press the button to fire the battery, the coil in the tank heats up the liquid and produces the vapour.
